Technical Information:
The OzHitch 2T 6 Hole Override 4WD Trailer Coupling demonstrated compliance with the performance requirements of ADR 62/02 clause 12.3.2 for a maximum trailer ATM of 2,000kg (2T).
The OzHitch 2T 6 Hole Override 4WD Trailer Coupling (part number OZHITCH-OR-G-6H) has a cast coupling body, which has been galvanised. It is an overrun brake type coupling with an internal spring allowing for some longitudinal movement to operate the brakes. The main shaft is a nominal 1⅙ inch OD diameter which threads through the inside of the coil spring. The end of the shaft is threaded and fastened with a 1⅙ inch nut which is then fixed onto the shaft with a roll pin to ensure the nut remains fixed.
The coupling head consists of a yoke (of nominal section thickness of 12mm) that can rotate completely within the cast coupling housing (to accommodate the lateral roll of the trailer). The yoke supports a universal joint by a ¾” UNC Grade 8.8 Bolt and lock nut. This universal joint offers a means to joining the coupling to the towbar attachment while still allowing full articulation. This bolt allows for longitudinal articulation. The universal joint utilises nylon bushes between the ¾” bolt and the yoke as well as being fitted with a grease nipple.
The coupling is secured to the trailer by 6 x ½ “ UNC Grade 8.8 Bolts in a nominal bolt pattern.
We recommend using 6x ½” x 4″ UNC grade 8.8 bolts with nyloc nuts; however, the bolt length may vary depending on the thickness of your drawbar plate and specific installation requirements.
Coupling bolt torque: 90Nm.
